The river most acclaimed as an Ecuadorian classic and said to be run by nearly all rafting operators but never is mainly due to the gruelling portage at the waterfall and the difficult nature of a narrow canyon run with big water potential that makes it particularly challenging for river guides.

This Class IV+ stretch is by far the most challenging river we run. Once you’re in, there is no turning back! We do recommend you have some previous rafting experience for this trip.

It starts off slow, with time to perfect your paddling and to enjoy the scenery which includes a section of sulfur rock where hundred of parrots make their home. Then the fun begins!

Half-way through there is also a mandatory portage around a waterfall, so a jungle hike with harnesses is added to the fun.

The trip ends in the small town of Misahualli which has been taken over by wild monkeys
